The fragrant water lily (Nymphaea odorata) has sweet-smelling white flowers, sometimes tinged with pink, 3 to 5 inches (8 to 12 centimeters) across. They float on the surface of the water, together with the waxy green leaves. Thick cylindrical stems anchor the plant to the pond bottom.
